When we built our first home in 1996, there was no portfolio to point to and no reputation to lean on. So we did the only thing that made sense: we built the first home in a newly subdivided parcel for ourselves and moved in. All our realtor had to say was: the builder will be your neighbor. That commitment has defined every project since.
